Habanero (Capsicum chinense) is a perennial plant 60-90 cm high, native to Havana and the Yucatan Peninsula (Cuba). It is also grown in Belize, Costa Rica, Texas, and California. The leaves are green all year round. Habanero blooms in spring and summer, and then the fruits appear. The fruits are from 2.5 to 5 cm, pear-shaped, first green, and orange after ripening.
