The basal leaves are oval, serrated, sharply narrowed to the petiole, and are collected in a rosette. Inflorescences are baskets. They are large, up to 15 cm in diameter. The flowers are purple-pink, pointed at the apex, up to 4 cm long. Echinacea blooms from July to September for about 60 days.
