Our licorice root is cut and sifted from the dried taproot of Glycyrrhiza glabra, sourced from India. Also known as Sweet Root, Gan Cao, Sweet Wood Licorice, and European Licorice, the root contains glycyrrhizin, a natural compound up to fifty times sweeter than table sugar. In the kitchen, create infusions for syrups, tonics, and teas, or use the root to flavor homemade soda and beer. The cut root also serves as a tincture base for perfumery applications and adds texture, color, and scent to potpourri blends.
