Manjakani, Quercus infectoriaone of the popular medicinal plants used traditionally in postpartum care and treatment of various ailments. This plant is a small tree or shrub about two meters high and is mainly found in Asia, Greece, and Iran. Its galls are round-shaped abnormal growth found arising on the young branches of the oak tree due to the attack by the stinging gall-wasp. In Malaysia, the galls known as “biji manjakani”, which have been used among Malays to restore postpartum uterine elasticity and also stimulate the contraction of vaginal muscles. The old folk’s women believed that “manjakani” is a ‘magical’ fruit that has many usage especially to women.
